This week

Hi everyone,

We’re looking forward to seeing you this morning at Garden to Plate after last week’s holiday. We’re going to be cooking with the chives from our garden today. Also a reminder that our 2nd Monday of the month Book Club is on tonight at 7.30pm.

AAA Bowls is back this Wednesday after a break last week. It will be running from 10am-12pm at the Alphington Bowls Club and will run for 4 more weeks - with the last program on the 3rd of December. At the same time we’ll also have our Weekly Playgroup running here in the front garden and Line Dancing on at the Scout Hall (nooooo how to choose????). Then Armchair Theatre is again on at 1pm. Wednesday evening Keiko is also running Sound Healing with Crystal Bowls at 7pm.

We’re back again with Crunch this Thursday - keep reading and you might just get a sneak peek at the pretty cool things we get up to (or come along and join in - more people are very welcome)!

Friday we’ll see you once again at our Community Morning and Community Lunch, and AAA Arts will be running in the afternoon.

Lastly, we’re sorry to say that although the Men’s Breakfast is scheduled for this Saturday, it won’t be running as John is still injured. Look out for the next one happening in 2026, and until then we’re wishing him all the best!

Cheers, Leanne

This week

Hi everyone,

It was nice to finish off last week with a Halloween-themed Community Lunch and our AAA Arts group also got into the spirit of things!

Just a reminder that we won’t be open this Monday and Tuesday due to the Cup Weekend public holiday. We hope you’re all enjoying the long weekend as much as we are!

We’ll be back to business as usual on Wednesday. On the radar this week we have:

  • Line Dancing on Wednesday morning from 10am-12pm down at Alphington Scout Hall

  • Armchair Theatre in the afternoon from 1-3pm (if you’re feeling a little exhausted by the morning’s exercise)

  • Or, if you’re in need of a good stretch, Community Yoga will be on in the evening from 5.30-6.30pm

  • Book Clubs are running three times this week, on both Wednesday and Thursday evening from 7.30-9pm, and Thursday morning as well from 10-11.30am.

  • We have another great Crunch planned for you this Thursday, starting at 12.30pm

  • And, of course, we can’t wait to see everyone at Community Lunch on Friday at 12pm, and hope you’ll come along in the morning for gardening outside or craft and chats inside.

Unfortunately, AAA Bowls won’t be running this week as the Alphington Bowls Club has another event on, but we’ll see you there bright-eyed and bushy-tailed next Wednesday!

See you soon!

Cheers Leanne

Due back

Adult Learners Week is here … and our nostalgic interactive community arts piece is now at Fairfield Library.

Lee installed it on Thursday afternoon and when I popped in Friday after work one of the librarians was stamping up and filling in a card - so I asked if I could take her photo.

The whole thing is pretty groovy and fun (Lee is a visual design wiz!) and we hope you take a minute or two to fill in a card yourself if you are there … your name, a book that is memorable and has ‘stayed with you’ and a description of what it was you learnt from it!

Happy adult learning! Both libraries and neighbourhood houses are a great place for it (in different ways).

This week

All going according to plan (thank goodness I was disorganised and missed the cheap deals on Qatar earlier in the year … so had to book with Malaysian Airlines) when you are reading this I am in Lyon, France. And yikes, it is going to be hot!

  • Forecast Temperature Melbourne: 5-14 degrees

  • Forecast Temperature Lyon: 22-34 degrees

I am visiting my oldest daughter who has been studying at uni in Lyon for the last 6 months - so I am very excited to see her! And I hope and trust that everything is going smoothly at ACC.

Tahlia is in the office this week holding the fort. I am sure she will be able to answer all your questions, and if not, she can touch base with Kalimna to sort things out. And if that fails I can check emails overseas.

Community Lunch is still on - we’re having bolognese this week along with a green salad and garlic bread. All welcome at 12pm. And of course you can pop in to gardening beforehand to work up your appetite - from 10am with Clare.

This week we have the Thursday morning and evening book clubs on. We’re looking forward to seeing you! A reminder to all book club members that we will close for the school holidays at the end of this week - so it is important to pop in and collect your books (if you missed your scheduled meeting) before 2pm Friday, and please drop your books back at the library if they are overdue rather than leaving them here - once we close on Friday we cant return them until we are back on 21 July.

Our new program is out for Semester 2, so you can check it out below, and book in via our website. We’re excited by all the things coming up in the second half of they year and hope you are too!

Have a great week. See you soon.

Cheers Leanne
