“connecting our community”
Guitar

At ACC there’s not much we like more than supporting locals to get their small business ideas off the ground. We provide very reasonable and flexible room hire rates to make it easy for people to get started on an idea without big overheads. And our podcasting studio makes a great counselling room or music 🎶 lesson room (for example).

Local Matthew Roche has been making good use of this space for guitar lessons twice a week for the last couple of years … but he contacted us in February to let us know that unfortunately for us … but very happily for him, he now has a full time position as a music teacher at University High … We are very pleased for him of course!

And, so, I think where I am getting to is that we have some space available in our hiring calendar (particularly after school and early evening) if anyone is keen.

If you would like to run local music lessons or have another great idea 💡 for something to offer the community just give us a call and arrange a time to come past and discuss how it could work.

Local makers

If you are a local maker of wonderful things and would like the opportunity to sell those things to the local community then book a stall at our Markers Market on Saturday March 26th.

It is all part of our Alphington Show and Dog Show.

The market starts at 11am and finishes at 2pm (not even any need to get up early!).

It is $20 to book a place to set up your table. Note this is an outdoor event with BYO table, chair and shade cover.

New tables

We’re pretty excited to be getting some new outdoor furniture delivered on Monday … the remaining table out on the corner that Bunnings donated to us a few years ago has seen lots of love but is at the end of it’s life I think (it’s so wobbly and has already been repaired once).

We purchased the two new tables using funding that came in the form of a ‘voucher’ from the Victorian Government to help us deliver more activities outdoors. We hope you enjoy them!

Visible mending

We had 14 people along for our visible mending workshop with local textile artist Serene on Saturday.

Serene provided introduction kits, lots of gorgeous samples and real life inspiration for patching and darning across a variety of fabrics, basic information on needles and thread (the tools of the trade), practical help with particular projects and also directed participants to great resources such as books from the library for further ideas and skill development.

It is just wonderful that so many people in our community are interested in learning and exploring new skills that help keep items out of hard rubbish.
