Remember our community building blocks? Well they are ready for their street debut.

We’ve made a little (fake) grassy bench for them, and added a lick of paint here and there.

They’ll be out on the corner from this weekend.

This year we are again super pleased to receive funding from the Department of Education and Training to deliver a Children’s Week neighbourhood activity … and here’s a sneak peak at one of eight playstations that will be out on the street as part our efforts to promote creative and imaginative play and create opportunities for children to play by themselves or with others as they choose.

Take a stroll past ACC and the Wingrove Street shops to check out our snail world … and the other seven playstations we’ve created as well - from Wednesday!

And what about these pot plants with appendages? Gorgeous.

We’re looking forward to recommencing programming at ACC and seeing you all again in the coming weeks.

Neighbourhood houses as ‘community facilities’ under the State Government roadmap can restart outdoor activities when we reach 70%.

In line with the roadmap anyone who wishes to use our facilities and/or join in our programs will need to be fully vaccinated. You’ll be able to do this by:

• linking your vaccination certificate to the Services Victoria check in app

• downloading your certificate into your online wallet, or

• printing your certificate in hard copy.

If you find the technology overwhelming did you know you can ring Medicare and they’ll send you a hard copy? Maria across the road told me yesterday this is what she did …

From next week we’ll be running Playtime in the Garden on Wednesdays from 10am with a BBQ at 12pm. And on Fridays we’ll be running Community Gardening activities from 10am, followed by Morning Tea on the Corner at 11.30am.

What’s happening on Wednesdays?

The spring weather is tempting us to go outside and we’re keen to re-engage with our community.

So from Wednesday 27 October (after we reach 70% double dose*) we will be running a weekly BBQ on the corner as a way of reconnecting with you all. We’ll set up outside near the Shed and welcome anyone to come by and enjoy a sausage in bread and a cuppa. We have a coffee machine we can get fired up so you can even enjoy a latte.

Keep October 27th free from 12pm. We would love to see you!

*and subject to any restrictions re. numbers and vaccination status that apply.

And when we reopen families continue to be invited along on Wednesday mornings to enjoy ‘Playtime in the Garden’ with access to our new cubby and sandpit along with craft activities set up by Lee from 10am-12pm. So you can come for a play and have some lunch as well.

We’re very pleased to be part of this event again which we are now really hopeful will go ahead. This time at ACC we’ll be hosting a salon hang of works of all the artists who make up the open studios … along with any other local artist who would like to enter 3 or 4 small works.

We’re hoping we can hold a community ‘salon opening’ on the Friday night of the 26th November, so that all the artists involved can get together and celebrate. And then we will hold our Makers Market alongside the first Open Studio weekend on Saturday 27 November, so that our community can admire art and shop for Christmas presents at the same time (and maybe even buy a work or two for a present).

If you have been busy being creative and you would like to have a stall at the market please also get in contact with us. Market stalls cost $25 and are open to any local makers.
