Alphington Show 2023

The annual Alphington Show and always hilarious Alphington Dog Show are once again coming up at the end of March. So … as you sit at home of an evening think about your hobby - be it crochet, knitting, whittling, baking, preserving, gardening or bread making - you should also think about entering!

Imagine how proud you would be to be crowned the local 2023 WiNNER of best local jam (for example).

You can find all categories and download the application forms on our website. So keep a look out for the details … and we hope you join in!

Jamming (and preserves)

We’re holding our first jamming session for the year on Thursday 16 February. If you’d like to come along and help cook up a storm sign up on our website.

And … if you have fruit trees or access to homegrown veggies to make relishes etc. we’d love to be the recipient of your backyard bounty!

Give us a call on 9499 7227 or pop past or email. If we know what to expect we can plan our cooking around it … thanks. Hope to see you soon.

Oh .. and also, if you have small jars we’d love ❤️ them …

Christmas lunch this Friday

We hope to see lots of happy and familiar faces at the Christmas Lunch on Friday 9th of December here at 12pm. We’ll be having a traditional buffet lunch of cold cuts and salads - a visit from Santa - and we’ll be sitting outside in the garden enjoying all the hard work our gardeners have undertaken recently.

If you participate in our regular activities like book clubs, line dancing, ukulele or playgroups or use our book libraries or garden you are very welcome to join us. It would be lovely to celebrate the end of the year together.

All are welcome. We just ask for you to RSVP by email so we can cater for the right number of people.

Our recent Christmas Makers Market in photos!!

Thank you to all the lovely stall holders that brought their fantastic items for sale last Saturday.

We hope you all enjoyed the atmosphere and the great food, face painting and kids craft on offer.

Here are some lovey photos of the day!

Cultural cooking - Indian condiments

Manu will be back this term with another cultural cooking class - teaching you how to make tamarind (sweet and sour) chutney, green chutney (with mint and coriander), and raita variations.

We all love the sauces and dips that elevate our cooking from good to great. So don’t miss this chance to learn how to make your own at home to make your next Indian meal exceptional.

Book your place here.

Cost $50

Saturday 15th October 11am-1pm here at the Alphington Community Centre.
