Electrify Darebin

Here’s an invitation from Natalie at Darebin Council. Thanks Natalie.

Given the recent climate news from around the world we know it’s a good time to be connecting with others. We are sensing a groundswell of community interest around taking climate action – electrification in particular.

So we are inviting you to hear climate campaigner and author of Together We Can, Claire O’Rourke share stories and experiences of her community’s steps towards supporting everyone to get to an electric future faster.

Join this conversation to think about how Darebin communities can learn and support each other to electrify our homes and businesses.

In this session we will also have time for stories from the floor so we can hear what folks are thinking about and doing around Darebin.

I think you will really enjoy Claire and her stories – she has been all over the country and met some amazing people that are doing great things!

Date: Tuesday 1 August

Time: 6.30pm – 8pm

Location: Preston Library

Movie club

Coming up on Tuesday 9 August. Keen to see movies? We go to Westgarth cinema early afternoon on the second Tuesday of the month - it’s a cheap movie day with tickets for $12.

Let us know if you are interested to join in and we’ll add you to the What’s App group so you can find out what we plan to see (and the exact timing). You can call or email!

Women in the shed

We have a spot (and maybe two) left in our new intermediate Women in the Shed program … so if you are interested just click here … AND if it is sold out call us (because I think someone who has booked a spot might not be able to come after all - so there might be an extra spot available). Kalimna will sort it all out on Tuesday. Our number is 9499 7227.

Note the course will start next week, that is the first week of August, not this week as advertised, and will run for 6 weeks on Thursday afternoons. It costs &240.

Playtime in the garden

Looking for a friendly venue for a play on Wednesday mornings? Come along and visit our garden (and indoor space when the weather isn’t so great!) between 10am-12pm.

You can grab a coffee from the local shops or pack your snacks and just come on in. We have a sandpit and cute cubby for imaginative play, and Lee puts out a little suitcase with changing art and craft supplies each week - so there’s always something to keep the littlies busy.

This is a free program that anyone is welcome to attend.
