How fun!

The Environmental Performance Authority (EPA) leads an experiential walk through Alphington, with performances along the way.

For this event, Environmental Performance Authority (EPA) asked City of Yarra residents about what they found during their permitted hours of 'exercise' in Melbourne's Covid-19 lockdowns. From these stories and their own explorations, EPA have created a seres of performances and participatory activities to draw out some of the wondrous and surprising qualities and features of Alphington.

WHEN: 2-5pm on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of March (this weekend)

WHERE: Meeting point: Yerrin Chase (at the end of Perry St), Alphington, VIC 3078, northern edge of Coate Park

The walk will go for approximately 2-3 hours, ending at Alphington Park.

WEAR: weather appropriate comfortable walking clothes, shoes and bring water bottle, hat, sunscreen.

Supported by the City of Yarra

Keen to get out of the hood? Perhaps take a local bike ride? North Carlton Railway House is a fabulous neighbourhood house in Princes Hill in the old station building (from the days of the inner circle train line). The line is now a lovely green corridor bike path/walking track that connects through North Fitzroy to the Princes Park ovals.

Why not head that way on Wednesday the 24th of March from 12pm - 2pm for a Harmony Day picnic in the garden? Play bocce, enjoy a free latte and multicultural snack, along with singing and dancing.

You can find Railway House at 20 Solly Avenue, Princes Hill.

How amazing that Alphington Bowls Club is 100 years old. To mark this auspicious occasion the club is holding a centenary celebration to which the whole community is invited, on Sunday 28th March from 11am-6pm.

The day includes:

  • morning and afternoon tea

  • BBQ

  • the bar open all day

  • live music

  • barefoot bowls, and

  • an exhibition including historical photos, memorabilia from the archives, team photos and more.

It is sure to be a super fun family neighbourhood day and a wonderful reunion event - if you’ve ever been part of the club, or have family or friends who have been involved in the club the current members would be delighted if you could encourage them to attend.

Alphington Bowls Club is at Parkview Road in Alphington. If you have any questions or need further information just call them on 9499 2530 or email info@alphingtonbowlsclub.org.au. See you there!

Paste-up success

We are pretty chuffed that the Alphington Neighbourhood Gallery looks so great on our fence … and that the paste-up process survived the weekend rain … we were a bit nervous.

Below are some photos of Ross O’Meara, our featured artist at the launch on Friday, and here is the link to see his works and find out more about him. If you are interested in purchasing an original work by Ross you can pop in to ACC and check out his folio in the foyer.
